In the last few months leading up to our move I had started to dread our new house. Every time we’ve gone over to it, it’s been dirty and blah. We had a great house which was fully furnished and only a couple of miles away that I would go home to and wonder “Do we really want to leave this place?”. Deep down inside I knew that the new house is what we wanted, but it was hard to imagine it as a home that I would be able to enjoy for the next couple of years until it was completely updated it. However, a few days before moving we pushed ahead at full speed, patching holes in the walls, scrubbing the floors, increasing my closet capacity (I’ll post details later) and during all of this I slowly started to get excited about our house again. Now that we are moved in I LOVE the place!! The living room is cozy but larger than our old house so it doesn’t feel cluttered. The kitchen has a larger pantry than I had before and despite the overall size of the kitchen being much smaller, I actually like it since I can reach everything I need without moving around too much in the kitchen.
Of course there are several things in the house that we’re not excited about adjusting to. The downstairs bathroom isn’t really big enough for one person, so we both get ready in the upstairs bathroom. We haven’t shared a bathroom since we first got married and the transition back into sharing has been interesting. We’re also not use to waiting two minutes for the water to heat up, but Dan assures me that will easily be fixed with a pump…of course. Despite these changes we’re happy to finally be moved and eager to start renovating.
I can't wait to come see it with all your stuff moved in! I'm so happy for you guys, it's going to be such a great place to renovate and grow into :)
