June Recap

The last month has flown by.  We've been busy marking things off our to-do list, yard work and finally getting back to the master bathroom.  Here's a recap of what we've accomplished in the last month:

Yard
The yard is starting to look complete.  Of course there are several flower beds that we're putting off until fall or next spring, but the ones that I've filled with my $1 plants from Lowes are looking great!  The mystery bush that I purchased from Lowes turned out to be a Lime Hydrangea, which made me very happy.  I wanted it to be a "snowball" type plant, but the leaves were different than traditional hydrangeas so I figured it wouldn't happen.  It was a pleasant surprise to see the blooms finally arrive.

Party/Patio

A couple of weeks ago we hosted a Mexican themed engagement party for our friends Dana and Chris.  We had lots of Mexican themed food, drinks and even a piñata.  Somehow Dan also convinced the guys at the party to help him assemble our new patio canopy (via Cargo Largo).  I was not thrilled that he recruited our party guests for the project, but I'm enjoying it now.  Thanks guys for your help and thanks to Chris and Dana for putting up with us!  New patio furniture also arrived to match (via Cargo Largo).

Chipmunks
Dan spent two weeks of June actively catching chipmunks.  He caught and relocated about 25 chipmunks.  We're still crossing our fingers, but so far we haven't had any return.  Now if he could only catch the rabbits that keep eating all of my flowers.

Details
Before the engagement party we made a concerted effort to check off outstanding items on the first floor.  During that time we finished the trim in the living room, office and entry way, and touched up the wall paint in those rooms.  Furniture (via Cargo Largo) arrived and I finally found a way to style  Dan's "classy" Monopoly table.

Dan also purchased and installed the door hardware.  He was unable to find an exact match to our existing hardware, but he found something similar that looks really good.

As I mentioned at the beginning we are now finally working on the master bathroom.  We spent the two weekends preparing the room for tiling.  We still have some work to do, but hope to start the actual tile in a week or so.
