Cabinets, Beams and Lighting....Oh Yeah!!

After four months of planning and waiting, our kitchen cabinets finally arrived.  There are still a few items that our cabinet contractor is fixing, but the majority of the cabinets are installed and looking good!  This weekend we also got the under cabinet lighting installed so the new kitchen is quickly taking shape.

 

 

We also put the finishing touches on our faux kitchen beams by adding our fake straps to hide the joints.  We are so happy with the way these have turned out and they were so easy to install.

 

 

 

Today we drywalled the hallway that connects our current office and the new kitchen. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from this view to prove it, but it's amazing how different it looks today from four months ago.  There used to be a radiator in this hallway and the ceilings were 12" lower.  Now the hallway feels twice as big. 

 

 

 

And the last item I have to report is that in the last hour we just had a huge limb (18" diameter) fall on the driveway next to our old garage.  It fell right where we typically have a vehicle parked, but for some strange reason we didn't have anything parked there this evening.  We are definitely counting our blessings.
