I wanted to paint several rooms in the house to freshen up the place and make it feel more like home, but since we are planning to renovate most of the rooms in the next couple of years it didn't make sense to spend $25 on each room. As a compromise Dan suggested we use $5 clearance paint from Lowes. It's no secret that we love deals, so buying a gallon for $5 is something that makes us very happy. The only catch is that you never know what color they are going to have on clearance and you must visit the store frequently until you find something you think you can use. It seemed like a great idea to start with, but we have now painted three rooms and I'm starting to think that just leaving the walls white may have been a better deal. Dan on the other hand thinks the price just makes it look that much better on the walls.
Room #1: Upstairs Bathroom. For this room we found a light gray which I hoped would give the bathroom a slight update and make it more appealing. After getting the paint on the wall, it appears that the color is actually blue. I thought the bathroom couldn't look much worse, but it appears I was wrong. Lucklily the entire bathroom will be renovated at some point and I won't have to live with it forever. On the upside, Dan thinks the room looks better with the blue.

I realized after I wrote this post that the before and after pictures look exactly the same and it's hard to understand how different the bathroom really is. But trust me, in person you can definitely tell it's BLUE.
Room #2: Downstairs Bathroom. This one turned out well. The bathroom was pretty dingy and the color definitely helped improve it.

Room #3: Office. From a previous post I mentioned that we removed the wall paper in this room. I wanted to replace the dark blue color with a seafoam green. I was really excited to find what I thought was seafoam green on clearance and couldn't wait to get it on the walls. However, it turned out to be much lighter and minty. My first response was that I hated it, but it is starting to grow on me and I think it will be fine once we get some furniture in the room.

Obviously Dan is really happy with all of the rooms, but he did admit that it doesn't take much to get a thumbs up out of a guy who is colored blind. We still have one more color to paint in the kitchen, hopefully it will be worth our time...
